How the Trust works

The successful functioning of the Trust depends on close co-operation with the District Councils and on the financial support and technical assistance given by the County Council.

The Trust is a Company which is a registered charity and subject to control by the Charities Commission. CPRE Norfolk and the County Council each have the right to nominate members. The affairs of the Trust are managed by Directors appointed by the Trustees, with assistance from a Secretary and Treasurer and technical support from Norfolk County Council.

Buildings considered by the Trust are usually:
•   listed as being of special architectural or historic interest.
•   vacant and unsuccessfully marketed or with failed attempts at restoration.

Since the County Council began publishing its Buildings at Risk Register in 1988, the Trust has liaised with the District Councils in using the Register as a source for pinpointing buildings most in need of help.

Without the Trust's intervention, several of the buildings described in the following pages would now be beyond repair.
